Unionville High School

Unionville school is public high school located in the west of community of Unionville in the city of Markham. School stands out among others with advanced arts programme divided into four categories: visual arts, music, dance, and drama, also having advanced arts facilities including lab, dance studios, music rooms and practice rooms, two gymnasiums and other.

Besides music and arts students in Unionville H. S. have outstanding achievements in academics. Learners are well known for having passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. School’s programme is more than successful in developing much needed skills, which is confirmed by school being at 17th position in Ontario’s school ranking and first in the city of Unionville.

Traditional: Unionville H. S. follows The Ontario curriculum, which is based on traditional approach to education. In addition to that, school offers International Baccalaureate programme based on preparing students for International Baccalaureate Diploma and developing skills needed for future college and workplace.

All education courses in UHS will be based on the expectations outlined in this curriculum.

Unionville art programme:

Unionville art programme is divided into four categories:

Visual arts – students can experience creativity and imagination developing in all 4 years. Programme includes painting and drawing, sculpture, photography, digital and video.

Musical arts – the biggest section of arts among others in Unionville H. S. It includes: piano, winds, vocal, brass, and percussion.

Dramatic arts – this programme enables university level dramatic arts disciplines, including: mask, mime, clown, Shakespeare and others.

Dancing arts – students are able to participate in various dance programs, including: Dance Infusion, Dance Access and others.

STEM programme:

You can apply your child to STEM programme before getting to high school. Students from feeder schools within UHS boundaries are welcome to participate. The others must complete “Expression of interest”, which could be done online.

The programme aims to improve learning process for kids who have passion for science, technology, mathematics and engineering. The programme includes so called 4Cs: courses, clubs, contests and connections for participants. For all needed information look at school’s web site.
